The WEF 2022 takes place at a time when our planet is undergoing several major crises (health, environment, energy, raw materials, etc.). There will be a before and an after to these rises. History shows that in all crises, technology and innovation have played a major role in their resolution.
Digital and electronic innovations such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, Internet of Things, quantum computing, 5G/6G, cybersecurity and many others, are changing the way governments, companies and individuals will act to deal with the crises they encounter. In particular, these innovations must consider their societal acceptability and environmental impact.
The catalyst for the deployment of these innovations is what we could call the "electronification" of human activities.
Objects thus become programmable; they allow the creation of new services and become data providers. This raises issues around data and associated regulation, such as their location in networks, their governance, etc.
The WEF 2022 in Grenoble aims to bring together and create the conditions for debate between the major players in digital and electronic innovation and markets in order to
(1) identify and facilitate potential cooperation,
(2) highlight key innovations, particularly from the most promising
companies, research centers and start-ups, to contribute to the resolution of current crises, and
(3) put into perspective the growth vectors, and initiate potential partnerships, including with developing countries.
